Why would Montreal trade a top 5 pick for a 27 YO center. This would be a Win-Now move which Bergevin has already said he won't do

Agree with KSixSKULLS. But also why do the Leafs do, so have Ennis as a third line centre? Both teams say no.

Stop... just stop. Trading Kadri would be the WORST thing Kyle could ever do. Kadri wants to win and is a great checking forward and centre depth is where the NHL is going. Plus he scored 30 goals in back to back years!

No. We r in win now mode, I would only trade him in the last year of his contract. It’s a stupid trade, I’m not helping the Canadians or trading Kadri

How is taking Montreal’s top 5 pick in a draft that scouts are saying has up to 3 first line centers in it helping them? I think your really over valueing Kadri here. Your in win now mode but you will Tavares for the next 8 years, Mathews is 21, Marner 20 or 21 I can’t remember and Nylander is 22. Your in win now mode for the next decade, adding an elite piece that is cost controlled for at least 5 years is the far smarter move.

A guy who has proven himself as a very good checking centre versus a pick that has a success rate. U don’t trade him! I am not overvaluing him, I’m worrying about competing for a Stanley cup, which trading Kadri for a first isn’t.

Kadri is cost controlled at an excellent value for the four years. The years you plan on winning the cup. We just got depth a centre, and you trade it away? There is a chance to win this year and you throw that away. Next year you bring in a guy who isn't going to be a strong third line centre, by that I mean defend and score like Kadri. So that's two years wasted. Maybe then you start to see the payback but you have to hope that that pick pans out quick, but if he does pan out quick, now you're looking at trading players to fit him in. Kadri has a salary which helps the team win. At $7 or more, which he is worth, we can't keep all three young guns now.

But it’s not just a first, it’s a top 5 pick. Kadri is not worth a top 5 pick in any draft. You can say keep him to win now but frankly I would be thinking of the dynasty that could be if that pick turns into Jack Hughes or Kappa

Key word there, could. The Canadians can get centre help from anyone else, but not the leafs. Kadri is a great 2 way centre who is a great fit for the leafs. If Dubas were to trade I would be so angry. The Canadians traded there only top 6 centre like a bunch of idiots, deal with it

They had a top 6 center? Ahhh Galchenyuk. Didn’t really play center but ya.

It’s fine with me. I wouldn’t do that trade if it included Liligren. You draft elite game changers, mostly in the top 5, that’s what Montreal needs and will be doing.
