This is a steal for Montreal. Blackhawks fans probably want this to happen too. My question is, why? The Hawks defense is a dumpster fire. I don’t know Corey Crawford’s status, even as good as he is? 100% he can’t backstop that train wreck of a defense. Now you’re asking “what if we trade for defense?”. At what point do you guys stop cheering on trades that wreck your future? You criticize Ken Holland for doing it all these years, but here y’all are cheering on idiotic trades. The Hawks suck. Keep Beaudin, Boqvist, Nordgren, Debrincat, Kahun, Sikura, and the rest of your good prospects. You guys don’t have that many good ones to be dishing out players that are almost locks as average to elite nhl players.

You must be on drugs. That's two first round picks including a guy MTL wanted.

Hawks have a very deep pool of NHL prospects on D that will all be ready anywhere from this season to 2 seasons out. All these players have the game to play at the NHL level.
Henri Jokiharju - 1st or 2nd line
Adam Boqvist - 1st line
Nicolas Beaudin - 1st or 2nd line
Blake Hillman - 2nd or 3rd line
Ian Mitchell - 1st or 2nd line
Gustav Forsling - 2nd or 3rd line
Dennis Gilbert - 3rd line
Carl Dalhstrom - 3rd line
Lucas Carlsson - 2nd or 3rd line
Chad Krys - 3rd line

The issue for the prospect pool in Chicago is a lack of forward talent. There is only a handful, maybe 5 or 6, that truly have NHL talent. On top of that, they need a winger bad now. I'm not a huge fan of grabbing a 30 year old winger who will want a 5 to 7 year contract extension at $6M+ a year though. I truly hope they grab Skinner from Carolina as he would be a dynamite scoring partner on the 2nd line with Kane. For that, I would give up a 1st and Beaudin and not look back.

I hear more wingnuts complaining about Holland for what it's worth. Saying that, you are so spot on in that Bowman traded away the future basically since he first got the GM job in '09-10. Some because of poor cap management, some because of the "Cup window", mostly because he simply isnt much.
In any event, he actually is in, perhaps, his best position to right the ship. Besides his 2 FA signings , the team is getting a bit younger (besides the core). He does have a bunch of d prospects that can be used as trade bait like the other poster said. While I wished he drafted Oetinger last year and Wahlstrom this year, maybe he is up to something useful in s different way. Honestly, I see more of the same for the Hawks this coming season. Hopefully, they are planning to build more from wothin, and have learned from numerous rather questionable transactions in these past year's from the management side.

Build more from within but think, after Ejdsell, who's the next best forward prospect? Soderlund? Highmore? Johnson? The hawks have probably the best D prospect pool in the league (Krys, Jokiharju, Mitchell, Beaudin, Boqvist all projected to be top 4 D). Build from within but I feel a couple prospect trades happening at some point if Stan doesn't make a big splash.

I am hopeful Sikura can have a DeBrincat like impact this year...45-50 pointer as a mostly 3rd liner. I think Hayden has a significant step in his development he can take. Kahan and Kampf are guys I see as being NHL regulars....just a question as to what they will be at their ceiling. Entwistle and Wise are nice recent acquisitions up front. We have a few Russians that are progressing nicely, not the least of which is Shalunov who could be very impactful when/if he comes over.
