Honestly that package probably gets the hawks Duchene and Ceci which I much rather have than Patches and Petry. Younger and faster while being more versatile.

Good point, but considering what Ottawa gave up for Duchene I don't think they are going to be in a hurry to move him. And they certainly won't want a 30-year old $5M center who scores 20 goals or less coming back the other way.

Anisimov is a very good net presence. He could probably be flipped for a 2nd or 3rd as I don't think he'd waive his NTC for Ottawa unless they agree to trade him.

Your deal sounds fair to me. But don't try any deal from Mtl to Chicago. They don't give any value to Patche and the first you know is that they place him on first line with Toews. Waste of time taking with Chicago Armchair-Gm.

Ottawa is in a tough spot. Very difficult to negotiate fairly with other teams in trade talks or extend contracts on their own players when there are tire fires all around.

What do you thinks Hawks are going to do? I don't see them much - do a few extra top 6F or top 4D make the difference this year when you've got Winnipeg and Nashville to go through? Or should they be tearing it down and rebuilding?

I doubt if the Hawks have the cap to sign Patches to a 7.5m contract next year. Of course how this trading depends on the almost non existent "sign and trade"

Pass...Patches ain't worth 3 first round picks (Mitchell to this point has outperformed his draft slot and for all intent and purpose is a first rounder)...especially not for the privilege of paying him 7.2 for a year or two (if not more) of non-prime years on the back end of his extension. Unless the cost for Patches is considerably less, I hope the Hawks resist trying for a quick fix that likely ends up as a half a step backwards in the medium run.
