I feel like people undervalue just how good Parayko really is. He's 24, a Right shot defenceman (arguably the most sought after position in hockey), He plays huge minutes and is effective at nearly all times when he's on the ice. He's also an absolute Giant, but he doesn't skate like it. And he's only going to get better. Not to take anything away from Nylander; He's a very talented young player with a very bright future, but Parayko is one of the most valuable Dmen in the entire league. After Karlsson, Hedman Pietrangelo, and Doughty, he's right in the conversation with guys like Jones, Werenski and OEL.

The trade is realistic in terms of value, though St. Louis is the big winner here. Nylander is not only younger, but will likely be signed long term whereas Parayko would have 2 years left at that point. I wouldn't do that from the Leafs standpoint, and prioritize instead some good, under-the-radar RHDs that wouldn't cost as much.

It's not a bad lineup overall, though. I'd say Gardiner will sign for more, and Dermott for less than that, which will balance out the overall cap.

As a leaf fan I enjoy delusional trade ideas. You are not getting Parayko+ for Nylander. Ffs we get some good young players and they are deemed God. I dont even get why they even trade Parayko if there's no more rumor
