Ottawa doesn't have many prospects, no first round pick, a cheap owner. Could it get any worse.

Chicago is going to continue to get worse for some time now, but they still have a strong fan base and some solid young talent.

A year ago I would have voted Detroit but after the additions of Zadina, Veleno, etc things are looking nicer, although it still looks as if Holland is trying to keep this team a contender.

The Isles did just lose the face of the franchise but with a strong prospect pool, a GM who understands rebuilding, a Stanley Cup Coach, and this teams situation becomes less depressing.

Horrid GM, horrid contracts, weak prospect pool, the Habs are going to be bad for a while, but at least the fan base is strong.

And lastly we arrive at the Ottawa Senators.... Some nice prospects, and some really good players. However, the team can't even sell out seats during the ECF, the best player to ever wear their jersey is leaving, Mark Stone is probably taking a 1 year deal and then booking it, Duchene is gone asap, the owner is terrible, the GM is terrible, and the team is littered with bad contracts. It can't get much worse.

Ottawa. It's not even close.

New York has a solid future ignoring those awful contracts to 4th liners. Holland and Bergevin are complete idiots but at least have some solid assets. Chicago has some very good young forwards such as Debrincat and Schmaltz, and their core is still decent as long as Crawford returns.

But Ottawa... ****ing hell. What a complete **** show. Melnyk is the most ******** owner in the NHL that only cares about saving money and being cheapskate instead of actually having a good team. Dorian is a complete idiot and has screwed over his team's future with the Duchene trade. Also, who the hell take Tkachuk over Zadina? Karlsson and Stone are both getting the **** out at the first oppertunity.

What’s hilarious about Ottawa is they’re supposed to rebuild, yet don’t have any top prospects other than Tkachuk and arguably Logan Brown. They also don’t even have their 1st round pick

Melnyk has driven the franchise down a steep road in the wrong direction. Dorion has zero power over him. They can’t find a trade for their franchise player, who has been abused in his time in Ottawa from teammate’s wives & disturbances from ownership; big reason being no one wants to take on Ryan’s contract, which doesn’t make any sense - if Ottawa is rebuilding why on earth would they need to move out Ryan’s cap hit?

I wouldn’t be surprised to see a poor Karlsson trade occur this season, Stone is gone is some format over the year as well. I also highly doubt Duchene re-signs, and if COL got Jack Hughes that would just be hilarious

It looks like since the death of Bryan Murray, the franchise has started dying as well, gradually. It now looks completely dead.

Ottawa, it's like top worst sports teams in NA or perhaps the world. It's that bad. I feel bad for sens fans, good luck, you're going to need it.

To make it even worse....

Imagine if Colorado got Jack Hughes and then signed Matt Duchene.

Also, Mark Stone rejects anything the Senators offer him so he can go to Arbitration and become a UFA next year.

And then he signs with Colorado.

And Ottawa is stuck with a 1st line of Boedker-Smith-Ryan.

The only thing Senators fans can look forward to is the 2020 draft lottery.

Actually, they shouldn't care if Colorado gets Jack Hughes or not. Because they don't have a 1st round pick next year, and they can't take back the Duchene trade. They shouldn't care who wins the lottery next year if they can't win it.

Yes they should care considering that it is their pick. Meaning if another teams wins with it then they could have gotten Hughes.

Sure, it would make them really wish they hadn't done that trade, but it doesn't change anything for them now whether that pick wins the lottery or not.

Okay but you said they wouldn't care which is entirely wrong. If the Avs win the lottery the Sens will deeply and painfully care.

True, but if Colorado wins the lottery with the pick or if they don't, it's no better or worse for the Sens.

I think any Sens fan could tell you that Colorado winning is a bad thing for them. Does it affect their team? No. But is it utterly demoralizing? Most certainly.

It will make them think they're stupid for doing that trade, but it's not bad for the Sens if the Ads win the lottery. They don't have a 1st round pick. That's it.

Ottawa is still my pick, but Detroit's not a bad pick. They aren't allowed to buy any players out in the 2nd window and they already have cap problems. They still need to sign Larkin.

Yea the Wings might stink for a couple of years, but once they ease out some of those back contracts, they will have money to. spend. Detroit still have enough cache to be deemed a desirable place to play. Plus there prospects....admitting they just prospects looks better than the Sens.

They still need to sign Larkin. Hopefully for them they can get him signed to a 1-year deal for less money.
