Thanks for showing why the Leafs can't sign Karlsson. Fransson, Holl, Davidson and Marincin...four minimum salaried Dmen on the team, Leivo playing big minutes.

Salary cap is only expected to be $82 million for the 2019/2020 season, No way in hell can the Leafs afford to give Karlsson $12 million per. Tavares $11 million Matthews $11 million, Karlsson $12 million, Nylander $7 million, Marner $8.5 million That's almost $50 million tied up in 5 players with a cap of $82 million that's way more then half of the cap tied up in 5 players long term. Good luck not being in salary cap hell and trying to field a quality team long term.

Where did it say its projected to go to 82 mil? The NHL projects a 5% increase yearly which would be the cap I set. Also the core is locked up for the next 6-8 years with the cap going up, marleaus contract expiring and phil kessels salary retention expiring. It will take a lot of intellignece from Kyle Dubas to surround the core but it can be done as seen with the top teams in the league

You're insane if you think you can trade a bad defenseman on an awful contract and a bottom 6 forward for someone who at the very least has the potential to become a middle 6 winger.

Besides that and having a mediocre bottom 6 forward core/horrific bottom 4 defense core, sure.

Well it is Peter chiarelli, he traded a bottom pair defenseman for the leaves mvp. Also this is banking on zaitsev having a bounce back season and puljujarvi not breaking out. Hyman could get 40 points again, zaitsev could get 40 points too and people will say Toronto got fleeced.

Zaitsev bouncing back? From what? Only having slightly better underlying relative numbers compared to his first two years of trash? Also, for someone who (out of the 4 most common line combinations he was on) spent only 60 of their 883 minutes of ice-time WITHOUT one of Auston Matthews or William Nylander, 40 points is an abysmal point total to have.

Getting someone with the ceiling that Pulijujarvi has would take way more than what you're fielding.
