Doug uses the offer sheet

Description
1) Offer sheeting Puljujarvi is unlikely but makes sense because the oilers will be up against the cap and they won't be want to move core players for a guy who isn't a core player yet.
2) I overpaid Pavelski for 1 year so that we don't have to protect him for the expansion draft with the understanding that he will come back for less.

$4.2 M offersheet would be a 1st and a 3rd

No way the Oilers don't match that.

That is wrong - AAV as you’ve input here is 4.2M. This site even offers a calculator. The comp would be 1st and 3rd

That's for this year. It goes up every year so I am just guessing it's going to fall somewhere around 4,200,000 as the upper limit for a 2nd round pick.

No chance offer sheet compensation gets better, only would get worse. Offer sheeting someone at 4.2M is going to cost you at MIN 1st and 3rd.

To the current argument, it is speculation at this moment as OS are not even allowed until 6/26/19 or the Tuesday after next year’s draft. Right now we simply do not know what the actual guidelines will be for 2019. I think...

How? the cap is only going up. in 2017 it was 3.9 mil. even if you were right I don't see the point of arguing over $200,000.

I’m arguing the picks, not the salary. The gap between a 1st and a 2nd isn’t something you can casually throw away.

The idea behind this team is that the shark's offer sheet should be right up against the upper limit of what a 2nd round pick gets you. I am estimating it will be about 4.2 million if it ends up as being less then sign him to less. the 4.2 is just a placeholder number.
