To answer your question, no, there is virtually no possibility that Pietrangelo is moved this summer. The Blues addressed their needs at forward and are pretty confident with their current top 4 on defense. They're not going to trade the captain just because the Leafs need a right-shot defenseman. I would think the only realistic move left for the Blues to make would be to add a depth defenseman at the trade deadline if they're still in the playoff picture.

Yeah I’m guessing that’s the case too. Maybe at the deadline if the season goes South again for St. Louis. I like the additions of O’Reily and Bozak, but the loss of Stastny, it could very well be the same story. I guess we’ll see how it all works out with injuries this year. Could be a buyer or a seller at the deadline, the West is so wide open.

Marner, a prospect who can replace him long term ( Liljegren), a player who can fill the whole on the right side in the mean time (carrick) and a 1st.

Realistically, Nothing is getting him out of St Louis, barring some crazy massive deal with a team like Ottawa or maaaybe Columbus. Pietrangelo is a top 5 DMan, and teams don't usually trade them unless you're an eastern Canadian team that is being run into the ground by poor management/ poor ownership.

You can't trade a young, high-end offensive prospect of Nylander's calibre for a 28 year old defensemen who is UFA in two years. Let alone give a first round pick and two good prospects. The trade is not going to happen. Who knows, maybe Pietrangelo will be tempted to sign with the Leafs as UFA and come home, too.

Pietrangelo is a legit #1 defensemen. It will take much more than what was offered

I love Leaf fans. It’s as if there’s no chance TML just can’t score enough to make up for the poor defense. I mean I’d pencil the Leafs into the playoffs but it’s no given. There’s just as much of a chance that TML miss the playoffs as there is to STL being big enough sellers at the deadline to move AP or CP. Both teams look solid on paper but they also have their question marks.
