Hypothetical Mid-Season Trade: Seguin to the Sharks

Created by: DOTFAM
Team: 2018-19 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 30, 2018
Published: Jul. 31, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
conditional on Seguin not signing extension with Dallas before training camp but just imagine a scenario where the Stars start the season slumping, perhaps struggling to score the same way they did end of last season...the Sharks, on the other hand, remain in the thick of it yet their aging team has them looking less and less like a serious contender as the wear and tear of the season progresses

Then, come end of January over All Star weekend and during a gorgeous Northern California winter in San Jose no less, Seguin kicks back with Evander and Logan at Logan's crib in the Saratoga hills and just tells it to them straight: he wants to win a cup but he also wouldn't mind a more "liberal" crowd of girls to chase tail with. A couple rips of Jonesy zong and next thing you know, Seguin and Burns are ripping ring of fires with longcut (Grizzy winter green, of course) while Kane delicately heats up a metal rod, preparing to brand Tyler with the words "SHARKS ARE BORN SWIMMING"

When Tyler wakes up viciously hung over the next morning, just hours before the 3 on 3 tournament, he is shocked to find not only the now scabbed over branding scar on his bicep, but also a group chat in which he sent pictures of his genitals to Jamie Benn, Drew Doughty and Milan Lucic.

Shortly after this gut wrenching discovery, Tyler is able to settle down, call his agent, and within hours the deal is made.

You tell me whats crazier. Me writing this whole stream of consciousness nonsense or this trade.

Esa Lindell isn't going anywhere. Everything else looks good.

That is absolutely hilarious! and totally possible :-)

As for the trade, not likely that either comeau (who just signed with dallas) or Lindell, who is a corenerstone of their future D would be moving.

However, the package is reasonable for Seguin, as long as he resigns long term. Karlsson and dillon arent worth too much. Roy either. Meier is a potential superstar, so I dunno if dougie would be willing to move him, and certainly not in addition to a 1st and 2nd given that Seguin is a to-be-UFA. However, no doubt seguin, like panarin, fits the 'difference maker' label, so if he hits the market, the sharks will be all over it.
