It’s always a possibility, but I don’t see that being Beneficial except for giving Schmaltz more ice time.

TBH, as a Hawks fan, in the absolute, right circumstance, I could see him being dealt, especially to a Quebec city. It would prolly be the most difficult decision the organIZation might ever make! But in this proposal, Kotkaniemi (if he truly is the real deal and can one day real soon [like in October!] be a 1LC) would have to be included.

Montreal probably wont trade Kotkaniemi this trade was just a thought cause MTL and chi were discussing trade talks Montreal would want Toews or a 1st plus imo or just a good prospect

Not exactly sure what is going on with Toews. IMO, he was never worth $10.5M AAV. He is comparable to Kopitar and Bergeron, and $9ishM would have been a more reasonable hit. (I know he accepted 3 Cups from Buttman!!!). Saying that, maybe a change of scenery would be good for him as well. But, Chicago HAS to have his immediate replacement as a capable, competent 1LC for them to ever consider asking him to waive. Again, JMO.
