Ceci thinks he is worth a lot more thus this is too much money for not a great defenseman. Poor Ottawa

It's already a bad deal when one of the worst defenseman in the league analytically gets a raise.

Require a 3rd option on this one.

I'd be voting "What was the arbitrator thinking?"

I mean, it's just one year, but this doesn't make any sense still. 4.3M is too much.

Capfriendly should start allowing users to view who voted what. Similar to what they did when they started showing users likes. Very curious to who voted yes sarcasm

He'll have to really start producing if he expects to get even more than this on his next contract. Not a terrible player but definitely not worth this much

I've said this before so I'll repeat it. Ceci, is used wrong in Ottawa, he's a good number 4. Boucher used him in a shut down role or dragging Phaneuf a**. If I were his coach I'd put him in a sheltered role with a good defensive defenseman (Dumoulin). He's more of an offensive defenseman than a shutdown guy. He also plays too much. However 4.3 million is ridiculous. I'd pay him 3.75 million max.

Omg! Ottawa is replacing Coyotes as the most undesirable team to play in the NHL by the players. No one wants to sign long term contracts with'em anymore.

When a team must overpay to a player like Ceci to sign for just one year is because the team is almost begging to their players stay.

I'm looking forward to see their roster next year...

I don't know much about Ottawa and don't really care, so I'm not saying if this is a good signing or not, however, interestingly it's not that different from that of Trouba:
Trouba, Jacob WPG Jul 22, 2018 AGE 24 LENGHT 1 2018-19 Standard RFA ARB. ELIG ✔ ARB. REQ ✔ RFA D Right GP 326 P 129 CAP HIT $5,500,000

After that Ceci contract, maybe a lot of players will file for arbitration. Certainly he doesn't seem to losing decision by the player.

People here have said that Ceci is not worth the money. Not so many people say same things about Trouba. Taken that Trouba deserved every penny to me it seems Ceci did too.

Ceci is terrible. Trouba is not. That's why people say it's an overpay for ceci. I just don't get the point you're trying to prove.

Terrible or not they get paid according to certain logic. For example player's +- seem to be no factor but overall career points is, if the player is young. Ceci and Trouba are in a similar situation looking at their career. It's easy for Ceci's agent to validate the salary request.

No one is happier than Marc Bergevin right now. Pierre Dorion has surpassed him as worst GM in the NHL right now. I'd say worst ever except that infamous distinction belongs to former BUF GM Tim Murray.

The difference is Dorion has been hugely crippled by ownership. Bergevin has had none of the same constraints, and he's fucked up harder for a much longer stretch of time. I'd also argue Chiarelli is significantly worse than either of them.

That logic only works if there is a market for a said player so I don't completely agree with you. Plus, the pay is that of a 2nd pairing guy and his numbers would suggest he is third pairing at best. So once again it's a bit off on value and not in line with normal logic - which wouldn't be used in an arbitration case anyway.
