How about the same Pacioretty deal by training camp? I highly doubt the Hawks will be buyers at the TDL without a legitimate scoring wing all season.

I doubt Chi will be a playoff team this season ... but Habs should trade Max Pac near the deadline ... 1st rounder and a prospect

Probably all parties would prefer to have it done before the puck drops. Only question is whether Chicago management has decided to rebuild or take another run at it. Tough competition in the central division.

Good points. For so many years it, honestly, appeared that Bowman never had a longer term plan. He always seemed to fly by the seat of his pants (or however that saying goes!). Now when he apparently is committed to more of a youth movement for down the road, I struggle with believing that. Because he has chosen 4 defensemen with his top picks in consecutive drafts, he really must have thoughts in mind, as well. I mean, this year he passed on Wahlstrom and Veleno who were both available when the Hawks were twice on the clock. He did get two dandy dmen, for sure, just like he got last year when he, incidentally, didn’t opt for Oettinger in the 1st round. Will any of these blue liners be moved for other needs? Will all four make the Hawks one day or be squandered in the AHL? Who knows but that is where we are at. I am expecting another very high pick in 2019, which is fine. Is it okay with the NMC guys might be another question!
