Justin Faulk to Philadelphia

Created by: seb
Team: 2018-19 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 6, 2018
Published: Aug. 6, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Philadelphia has a lot of left-handed defensmen. Shayne Gostisbehere, Andrew MacDonald and Travis Sanheim are all left handed, even though they play at the right side. Philadelphia has a great first power play unit, but they can't generate offense out of their second power play. Along comes Justin Faulk. He makes their first power play even more deadly than it already is and with Sean Couturier and Wayne Simmonds down on the second power play, they could add some offense. Carolina receives Scott Laughton, a third-line center with more room to grow. They need any center at this point, especially with the departure of Elias Lindholm and Derek Ryan to Calgary. Martin Necas will make the jump eventually. However, unless he is fully ready, it's not necessary to rush him. Add German Rubstov, recent Memorial Cup champion and two draft picks. Giroux has shown that he can play center in the past, and Nolan Patrick can certainly help the third line for now.

Sure, but Carter Hart is among the two prospects Philadelphia isn't willing to trade, along with Morgan Frost.

I'm not that high on Faulk but for two year rental the trade could certainly worked. Carolina needs centres, if Rubstov is considered an NHLer, Canes jump on this trade. A good thought filling needs of both teams.

Patrick will play 2nd line center next season. He was really gaining traction at the end of the year, and Philadelphia wants to see him in that spot. So unless he gets injured, or struggles immensely, expect him to play 2C. And I doubt they want to split up the amazing 1st line they had last year.
