New York Islanders Trade Deadline: Sellers

Created by: Mannyhannies
Team: 2018-19 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 7, 2018
Published: Aug. 7, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
So, all of this is dependent on whether or not the Isles are buyers or sellers.
Isles trade Brock Nelson despite a strong(ish) year. More consistent than previously on pace for about 50-60 points. Yields 2nd Round Pick.
Jan Kovar is decent 3rd liner. Gets 3rd Rounder (maybe too much, rly depends on his production/defense). Islanders don't end up extending Anders Lee. Previous 40 goal scorer and is producing well without Tavares, but still not the same. Playing with William Karlsson or Paul Stastny will boost his goal socring.

"The Rangers get forwards Ryan Spooner and Matt Beleskey, prospect defenseman Ryan Lindgren, the Bruins' 2018 first-round draft pick and a 2019 seventh-round pick." From ESPN. Nash was a 33 year old rental whose prime days are far behind him. He yielded a 2nd liner, a prospect and a first. You are telling me that Lee, a 40 goal scorer last season whose in his prime right now, won't yield a 1st, 5th, decent defensemen and a good prospect? I'm sorry, Willowkink, but you are wrong.

OOF someone can’t take criticisms. I agree it was a little overpay for Lee. Maybe a 1st and Miller and Brännström at most here. Kovar is worth a 2nd from what I have been hearing. Nelson can commend a 2nd alone. Value not far off. So 2 Stars ⭐️ ⭐️- 1 star for those lines so only 1 star ⭐️

Spooner isn’t a top 6 forward.

It makes a lot more sense to trade Eberle instead of Lee. Hard to replace a 40 goal guy, easier to replace a 59 point forward who skated next to barzal

That VGK-NYI trade is horrendous from VGK POV oh my god! That's one trade that won't happen in a hundred years!

Not bad, Kovar trade too speculative though - he could get more or less depending. I don't think the Lee trade is to bad for vegas, Lee's open market is about $7.5 million. My sense is ownership loves Lee and he is happy w/ Isles, so they extend him. I also think LL says he thinks this team is in better shape than Leafs and is not inclined to clean house. But I get it. Most likely Eberle is the one sold at deadline.
