If CBJ was smart they'll see if Anders Lee duplicates the last 2 seasons as a 28 yo. It's doubtful he does without Tavares. I think Wahlstrom + a little extra would do it.

Since Isles are unlikely to make the playoffs even with one year rental Panarin why do they do the trade. CBJ are sorta in a win mode, so why do they do the trade.

If it is a sign and trade, yes - the Blue Jackets won't be "Tararesed" as Panarin did the decent thing and said he probably won't come back - so your trade isn't the worst. My guess is a contender offers them more and the Isles love Lee, so they would rather trade Eberle. I don't think Dobson plays yet, but apparently looked amazing in rookie camp. They might give one of the other DMan a shot.
