three way trade with OTT and TOR (Revised)

Created by: baseddougwilson
Team: 2018-19 Nashville Predators
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 7, 2018
Published: Aug. 7, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Toronto
Give up: Andreas Johnson, and 2019 1st.
They get: Ryan Ellis

Nashville
They give up: Ryan Ellis, Dante Fabbro, and 2019 1st
They get: Erik Karlsson

Ottawa:
They give up: Erik Karlsson
They get: 2019 1st (NSH), 2019 1st (TOR), Dante Fabbro, and Andreas Johnsson

NSH becomes stacked, TOR gets RD, and OTT gets a big package for EK95. OTT fans might be underwhelmed but I don't see another team offering much more. Also TOR should try to make this happen because it keeps Erik Karlsson out of Tampa.

I think the Value is short on EK if he’s coming with an extension and too much if he’s a rental. If he was coming with an extension I think you could the Colorado 4th we own and the rights to a prospect like Patrick Harper (BU).
I like the TOR trade though. Not sure how they make it all fit next year

It looks like Erik Karlsson has been hesitant to agree to an extension so my thought was that Nashville doesn't include an extension but takes a gamble that they will be able to extend him in the summer. They have the money and a winning team.

Bravo!!! You cracked the code. Two players and two picks is a pretty good return for EK. Toronto takes it a bit on the chin, but Ellis would help the Leafs D. Not sure how Subban and EK will get along, but given trade rumours about PK, it would give the Preds a lot of options.

Is Ellis coming with a sign and trade? A first and Johnsson is a lot for a rental.

The price is too much for a rental of Ellis and TO won't be able to get him inked until after next season. This isn't the year for a bold move for a defenceman.

For once we disagree. If we can re-sign Ellis, we move Zaitsev. Or find other ways to keep him. I'd take the chance.

I like everything here. At first I thought we (Toronto) were getting off a little easy, but then I realized that Ellis is a UFA in 2019, so this price seems about right. The rest of the package(s) are fine.

It starts as a rental but with hopes of re-signing him. It won't be easy but I think it is worth the risk. Also Ellis is from the Hamilton area so he may have worn leafs pajamas. In my opinion this is a good year to go for it. two of the kids are still on their ELCs, With guys like Gardner on his way out I think it's worth it to take a shot.

Like moving out one of Marner or Nylander? Or are we moving out Zaitsev, Johnsson and Kapanen because we'll have to move all of them since Ellis is going to be asking for 7+ which is too much for him. IMO

I agree which is why they way till the deadline and find cheap expiring contracts to add or maybe somehow swindle Vancouver into retaining Tanev's contract for the next 2 seasons. Tanev hat half his Salary is a way more valuable addition than Ellis. Sure Ellis is a better player but Tanev is great and will cost way less.

Well, if that's what he's going to be asking, then you're absolutely right.
