This trade makes no sense at all for Montreal. But is a much fairer deal than those dopey Patches trades for by many Habs fans.

God those are bad. As of most of the Karlsson trades, and I'm a Sens fan. To top it off we have read so many trades "with an extension". As someone described once, "Can't think of a good trade, just add an extension to justify it".

It’s like the people think “Man if I add an extension I bet (Insert Player Name) is worth at least another first and a prospect”

Im not sure if you are aware as gm of the blackhawks id think you would know but ottawa is attempting to sign and trade karlsson something they have made clear from the start just putting it out there.

I understood but the point of each of these posts are exactly to run scenarios its exactly what this part of the site exists for fans to create scenarios that they might want to see happen or gauge a discussion.

Stop trying to dump Patches on us and we will stop dumping AA on you.

I’d have no problem keeping Patches and re-signing him if we didn’t have a bonehead of a GM.

And the only deal I’d ever consider for AA, would be next offseason if a trade was structured similarly to what MTL and WIN did with dumping Mason (so MTL can buy him out) but sacrificing Armia and pick.

I don’t think you are giving AA enough credit, I agree that most Hawks fans inflate his value to an extreme, but a buyout is definitely not needed.

My apologies, not trying to diminish AA value or compare him to Mason. But if I were Habs managements, I don’t want him or would want to spend any assets for him. If CHI were to call me saying they need some cap space and say “could you take on AA’s contract and we’ll give you Hayden + 5th rd pick” then sure. But once the deal is done i’d either flip him (and retain $$) or straight up buy him out.

Just don't fight fire with fire cause now you're wasting more people's time with this. The truth is that 99% of people don't understand how to make a hockey trade. 100% of people can never predict what an NHL team will actually do. If you don't like seeing the idiotic Patches trade proposals just STOP CLICKING ON them. Making a retaliatory post like this, that btw, is A LOT worse than most Patches trades i've seen, just keeps the trend going. Let's end it here folks!
