Description
Made a small change to a trade that @Ragsandbluesfan proposed. That trade can be found here:

Tampa will never trade Point (this is purely for fun), BUT if they wanted to go all in and win a cup next year, I could see a move like this happening. Spurgeon offers a HUGE upgrade over Girardi on the blue line and Staal gives Tampa the possibility of having two 80 point centers. Tampa frees up about $1M in cap space here as well.

The Wild will need a future center to complement Eriksson Ek and Point offers that solution. The Wild are considerably worse now, but the idea is to be a serious contender with Kaprizov. If all went as planned, the top 9 lines would be something along the lines of:

Kaprizov - Point - Granlund
Zucker - Eriksson Ek - Niederreiter/Kunin
Parise - Greenway - Kunin/Coyle

"Fehr" enough!

Edit: Do they even need him though? Their lineup would be something like:
Miller - Stamkos - Kucherov/Johnson
Palat - Staal - Johnson/Kucherov
Killorn - Cirelli - Gourde
Andreoff - Paquette - Erne

Seems like even without Callahan they'd have enough depth.

Retain 1/2 of Staal’s salary and I’ve got to believe they at least think about it...

I'd absolutely do that. The more I look into Point, the more perfect he seems for this team. He's not very big, but he plays with tenacity and skill (he's also put up great numbers in the playoffs!).

I'm not sure Tampa would ever give him up, but if they would we better be in the mix to get him. Point and Eriksson Ek sounds like a fantastic one-two punch down the middle in a couple years. Add in Granlund, Kaprizov, Nino, and Zucker and you've got yourself a Stanley Cup contending top 6.

Obviously going "all in" means trading the guy that has part of his foot in to being the number one centre in Tampa. That's not even close enough in value even with the apparent "cap dumps".

You obviously didn't fully read my description. "Tampa will never trade Point (this is purely for fun)", my next bit about Tampa going all in meant that they might want to add at center and on D, but Point wouldn't be in any part of a trade like that. I also never said any of the players in this trade were a cap dump, merely that Tampa saves $1M in cap...

I mean your username is literally "BoltsPoint21", I don't think anything other than someone like McDavid would be enough for you.

You're offering a 30+ year old C and a top 4 defenseman that would soon be expendable for a guy that's has similar even strength production as Stamkos, plays more key minutes and more minutes in general, and has just started to breakout has a 21, now 22 year old. Tell me how that's "fair."

I'm offering a top transitional defenseman in the whole league and a center that has had 141 points in the past 2 seasons. Before you ridicule me about how Spurgeon isn't a top D-man, read this WHOLE article, not part of it.

The trade proposal ignores incentives, resulting in the trade being off in value.

Bro lol before his 2 seasons in Minnesota Eric Staal sucked. Brayden Point’s one of the up & coming best centers of the game. Could become Tampa’s 1C in not too long. Eric Staal’s like 34. He might have a couple good seasons in him, but Point has A DECADE of good seasons in him. Spurgeon’s also not better than Barrie, that’s a fact. Taking 2 cap dump players back doesn’t equal Point’s full value either. It’s probably a great thing this is make believe because no chance this happens. Staal’s at best a 3C in Tampa, and he’s a pending UFA. Hard pass.

WOW! He can skate with puck! Obviously no other defenseman except Hedman can do that! And by your logic, I can offer Stamkos and Stralman for McDavid since Stralman is a good top pairing defenseman and Stamkos puts up points...

If you had any idea how much better Spurgeon is than Girardi, you might think differently!
