First person I've ever seen use "no offense" to describe Adrian Kempe...

The return seems fair but King’s don’t do this because they are sending no cap relief away for resigning Patches. The 3 players combined don’t equal Max’s current cap hit, let alone an extension.

This would be a "win" for the Habs, unless there's a way to salvage the relationship with Pacioretty. Given that is unlikely, Kempe alone would be a reasonable return and Forbort and Clifford and a pick would be a nice bonus. A better deal -- likely one that fell through -- would be a 4-year deal at $7.5M or so that is signed in Montreal and then dealt, keeping $3.5M on Montreal's books. The return could/would be considerably higher.

You should look at Kempe’s play.. he’s all about offense.. the stats will show it with more ice time

I agree with you that this would not solve the Kings cap problems (especially with Doughty’s 4M$ coming up) but t least they get rid of Forbort and Clifford who were signed through next year.

Maybe a guy like Pearson or Martinez gets traded in the offseason for Pacioretty to sign an extension.

40 points on the 3rd line with Kyle Clifford and Trevor Lewis stuck on his wings? Seems pretty good to me
