Isles Ideas II - 2019-20

Created by: slapshot723
Team: 2019-20 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 13, 2018
Published: Aug. 17, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Isles have a terrible roster from the season before, and end up winning the lottery and drafting Jack Hughes. The 1st round pick acquired from the Avalanche is used to trade up and draft Matthew Robertson.

With loads of cap space, the Islanders are able to sign Tyler Myers to a large contract, rounding out a solid top-4 of Leddy, Myers, Pulock, and Hutton.

Lehner has a bounce-back year and signs another one-year contract at a much higher salary, with the Islanders hoping Ilya Sorokin arrives in North America the following season.

Anisimov is brought in to fill a 3C role, while helping the Blackhawks save cap space. Mayfield's spot is upgraded with Myers anyway, and since Anisimov has performed well playing with skilled players, he could be a good fit with Ho-Sang.

Hathaway and Thompson are signed to fill bottom-6/reserve roles.

He isn't worth that much more than what he's already been making.

As for the post, seems ok. I don't love the term on Tyler Meyers as he'll basically be 29.5 by free agency but it's financially doable. Don't see the Isles being terrible enough to win the Hughes sweepstakes

Sure, he's worth $6M/year. He also seems to really like the organization, and he'll get to keep playing with Barzal. He also would get 6 years, seems like a fair deal for him and the Islanders.

Went off of what Tavares' cap hit was when he signed his ELC. Is that not the case anymore? I'm assuming you're referring to Jack Hughes.

I questioned Hughes as well, but figured you were factoring in him hitting all his bonuses.

925,000 is the max, not all ELCs are signed at that. "maximum allowable salary for players drafted until 2022 is $925,000." https://www.capfriendly.com/faq#elc
