Description
This is continuing my LAK post, where I ponder what would happen if a team would rebuild. Also, I got a few comments on my LAK one about how the clauses didn’t work out. I decided it’s more fun if we don’t consider those. Sorry if you don’t like that! Also, forgive me for the lines. I’m not too familiar with some of the prospects.
Trades
1.
SJS
  1. Olofsson, Victor
  2. Ullmark, Linus
  3. 2019 1st round pick (SJS)
  4. 2019 4th round pick (SJS)
2.
SJS
  1. Bouwmeester, Jay
  2. Kyrou, Jordan
  3. Soshnikov, Nikita
  4. 2019 2nd round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
A similar trade to the one with the one when the Kings traded with the Blues. The Blues get a true 1LD (at an affordable deal for 3 years), dump Bouwmeester, and lose some stuff in the process.
STL
  1. Vlasic, Marc-Édouard ($3,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
The salary is only retained for the next 3 years of the contract.
3.
SJS
  1. Bean, Jake
  2. Geekie, Morgan
  3. 2019 2nd round pick (BUF)
  4. 2020 1st round pick (CAR)
Additional Details:
At the moment, the Canes are a fringe playoff team. What they need is a 1C. They get one here.
CAR
  1. Pavelski, Joe
Additional Details:
Pavelski resigns 7x3
4.
SJS
  1. Bracco, Jeremy
  2. Marleau, Patrick
  3. Sandin, Rasmus
  4. 2019 2nd round pick (TOR)
  5. 2020 1st round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Leafs get a 1LW (at a lower price then Marleau) and give up some in the process.
TOR
  1. Kane, Evander ($1,500,000 retained)
  2. 2020 5th round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
Salary is retained for 3 years of the deal.
5.
SJS
  1. Spezza, Jason
  2. 2019 1st round pick (DAL)
  3. 2019 4th round pick (MIN)
  4. 2020 3rd round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
The Stars, like the Canes, are a fringe playoff team. They need some veteran influence, so they get Thornton, lose Spezza, and make up the difference in picks. Spezza is a cap dump, which is why the picks are so high.
6.
SJS
  1. 2019 5th round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
The Avs could use some F depth, so Melker is their guy.
7.
SJS
  1. Vatanen, Sami
  2. Zacha, Pavel
  3. 2019 1st round pick (NJD)
  4. 2019 4th round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
The Devils need that extra push into the playoffs. Brent Burns’ll do that for ya.
NJD
  1. Burns, Brent ($3,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Retention for next 3 years only.
8.
SJS
  1. Foo, Spencer
  2. Frolík, Michael
  3. 2020 3rd round pick (CGY)
  4. 2021 2nd round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
Calgary could use some RW depth, they’re a bit weak in that category. They also take Frolik as a dump and get a 2021 2nd for it.
9.
SJS
  1. 2019 2nd round pick (LAK)
  2. 2020 4th round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
The Kings need LD help for the time being. Who better than Brendan Dillon?
10.
SJS
  1. 2019 1st round pick (PHI)
Additional Details:
Philly needs RHD badly. Sami Vatanen is the answer.

Too much for Donskoi and Dillon imo (can be solved by removing some picks) and Dell would likely be traded if sjs goes for rebuild. I think they would keep Kane and Couture, but Braun could be another piece to trade. I get the idea (but not like it, boy this defense is terrible grin )
