Part of Master Plan - Panarin

Created by: ChiHawk
Team: 2018-19 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 21, 2018

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
ALL MOVES HAPPEN PRIOR TO TDL...

Bowman had the plan all along to grab Panarin back.

Panarin and Columbus don't agree to a deal by 9/25, Columbus shops him but only a few teams are willing to pay the price since Panarin has and continues to state he's only interested in a large city. Columbus ends up giving in by December.

Chicago misses the playoffs and dumps Rutta and Murphy and focuses on developing Jokiharju, look to see what Mitchell offers, and Hillman and Dahlstrom get some looks on the left side. Highmore gets some time at Center hoping to replace Kruger going into next year. Kahun is brought up for 9 games at the end to insure Hawks don't have to pay his bonus.

I am sure the Jackets would get a better deal than that.

He explains in his description that this happens after the Jackets give in. The thought process is that they couldn't find a better location due to Panarin not wanting to resign.

Also, not sure how I feel about Ottawa giving up a 2nd right now, just doesn't really make sense moving forward. I think this trade makes sense, maybe just to another team.

That D core is beyond brutal and the Hawks are in the middle of the lose for Hughes sweepstakes if Crawford is even rusty out of the gate and not even a playoff team with first half of last season Crawford. 3 of those kids are at best a partial season in the AHL away from being struggling NHL level D men much less ready to play prominent roles on anything resembling a playoff team.

Agree but it depends if they trade karlsson. If so, having murphy a young defensive player with plenty of NHL experience could be worth it to bring in as a stop gap but if not, he's worth a 2nd elsewhere.

It's not brutal it's simply in rebuild mode. Not one player will change that and Rutta and Murphy are not long term solutions so if the Hawks miss the playoffs, why not bring in the young guys to get experience at the NHL level as most will play half the season in the AHL? The future in the not to distant future is the following.
RHD LHD
Keith Boqvist
Beudin Seabs/Jokiharju
Gus/Forlsing/Hillman/Dahlstrom/Krys Mitchell

Beudin and Boqvist are not coming up this season but the rest need to get sorted out for the 2019/2020 season. Gus, Forsling, Hillman, Dahlstrom, Krys, Mitchell, and Jokiharju all have potential to play solid roles be it 2nd or 3rd line so again, why not use the last 3rd of the season to get these guys in the lineup and weed out who will be part of the future or not. If the Hawks aren't making it in the playoffs, the last 3rd of the season becomes important development time.

And lastly, if the Hawks miss the playoffs they get a lottery pick. There final record won't matter if they are in last place or 20th place. The lottery will determines who picks #1 and so on. Sure, having a worse record gets a better chance at #1 but we've all seen teams finish in 20th place and end up with a pick in the first few spots.
