Trade with Detroit ok.
Trade with Toronto No thanks. Think sprong have more potential to play on top 6 than Kapanen.

Why would you trade Sprong for Kapanen period, much less add in Simon and a 2nd? I'm not even a Sprong fan but I wouldn't move Sprong for Kapanen, Leivo and a 2nd, much less the extras going the other way.

Bias aside, your right but for the wrong reasons. What does Pit gain by doing this? Is Kapanen that much better than Sprong and Simon? Simon produced as much as Kapanen did, (I'd prefer kapanen regardless though) but Sprong who is a quite decent prospect? He's no more behind Kapanen as Kap is to him.

I think Kapanen is fine player to want to go get but the value going back in this trade makes no sense.

I would've been happy with that Detroit trade if it happened in June. Jarry would be our #4 goalie right now. That's fair value for AA and he would fit right in with Pittsburgh. He would have to play with Malkin or Kessel though.

kapanen trade doesn't make sense. You already have plenty of guys who can play over there who are either about as good or who have even more upside, and you are trading one of each just to get him(plus a pick for some reason).
The trade with Detroit makes a lot more sense, Detroit might have to retain slightly more is the only thing I would say would need adjusted.

Both these trades suck.
Jarry is their best bet at a decent back up goal tender this year. Unless you forget how not having a goal tender worked out last year. He has much more upside than DeSmith.
Sprong and Simon sounds like a Toronto fan wanting cheap young talented players to help with their cap. We'll pass thanks.

The whole idea of help for Brass is absurd. He'll have one of Kessel, Horn, or Sprong on his wing next year on one side. And Either Hags or Rust on the other. He's not exactly lacking help.

Detroit trade has potential, assuming Murray shows he can be a full time starter and put decent numbers up.

not attracted to the sprong trade, I think value wise sprong and Kapanen are about the same and it doesnt make sense for the pens to make that trade when they are cap strapped

Why on God’s earth would the pens need either of these trades? They are gonna start Brassard in Genos left wing. If he doesn’t work there, he probably ends up traded or on the 3rd line LW. I doubt they make one of two guys that are 53% or better on faceoffs play wing in favor of Brassard that is like 45% on faceoffs. Or they will trade him if he doesn’t work out on Geno’s wing. So he doesn’t exactly need help other than to produce. Also, trading our only capable goalie outside of Murray just seems like a bad idea with how injury prone Murray has been. Also why would you trade a top 6 potential prospect in Sprong, plus a Simon who is more than capable of playing up and down the lineup, and a 2nd for Kapanen just because Kap might be able to play up and down the lineup? Simon, ZAR , Cullen, Brassard, Hagelin, and Rust are more than capable of that. Just a waste of picks and needed pieces just to downgrade what we already have lol
