Trading Danault wont help the team play .500 hockey - he is their best center. A lot of people say Danault would never be a top 6 C on a good team, which seems to fit the narrative for last year although he missed half the season with injuries. He was also their number 1 C the last time they made the playoffs and won the Atlantic division. Danault and Pacioretty are a dynamic duo at 5 on 5:

Other than that your lineup is pretty close to mine, I used to be pushing for them to sign Franson but they signed Oullet, 2 Czech defenseman, and Despres to a PTO. I'm willing to give Benn a chance to bounce back as well - I dont think the team will add anymore defence to the lineup.

Edit: And why trade for Gauthier when the team already has McCarron?

you got to trade a winger, not our only center. Expect Byron, Pacioretty and Benn to all be moved for picks this season.

I don't see how Montreal can be better than they were last year. Too many good teams better than them. The development of their young players is important, and it probably won't lead to more points this year.

I'm excited for the season to start. A healthy Price will make a difference, just that makes us better. A healthy and looking for a long term deal Paccioretti playing with Domi, a natural passer COULD be an exciting combination. Armia and Pecca were good acquisitions with some very descent upside. Lekhonen is lofty for a 1st liner but my gut says that Hudon might take over that spot early on, he will be a pleasant surprise. A full season under his belt, I expect some upside from Mete. Lastly, I expect Drouin to start the season the way he finished.

I doubt very much we make the playoffs but we will play well enough to play ourselves out of the Jack Hughes sweepstakes. We have the 9th youngest team in the league, I hope the kids can play better this season.
