Another Way to Solve the LW Weakness - Byron and Hudon

Created by: OldNYIfan
Team: 2018-19 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 25, 2018
Published: Aug. 25, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Unlike my other construction, this projection assumes that Patrick Eaves is able to play this year. I can be talked into a second-round pick if three prospects and a third aren't a sufficient exchange for Byron and Hudon.

The Ducks could get Nyquist with retained salary for like a 2nd and an okay prospect. He'll also help with the Ducks' speed problem.

I’m sorry but I don’t feel you know the Ducks that well. Kesler is out indefinitely, Eaves plays RW, and Rakell plays LW. Fowler also plays with Montour. Also, I don’t really think Byron solves much of anything for the Ducks. He’s been a 20 goal scorer twice in his career. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the same production from Ritchie this year.. though of course not if you’re putting him on the 4th line where he doesn’t develop..

Ducks need a scoring top 6 LW and I don’t think Byron addresses that at all

Well, I've been watching the Ducks here for more than a dozen years. Rakell plays LW because, as you acknowledge and as the title of my post says, Anaheim desperately needs help on the LW. Eaves is penciled in at LW for the same reason. As I am sure you know, both of them are right-handed. I would be more than thrilled to see Ritchie play on the first line this year and score more than 20 goals. Obviously, you would prefer my alternate solution, suggested in my companion post about Max Pacioretty.
