Karlsson and Pacioretty

Created by: Willian_Cardoso

Description
In my opinion, Leafs should do whatever they can to win this season, cause next one they will have to re-sign with Matthews and Marner, 2 expensive players. So, this season they can add other 2 great players to improve a lot their roster, being one of the favorites contenders to win the cup.

On the other side, both Montreal and Ottawa would get what they need in these trades.

PS: Of course, I'm not saying that Leafs should all in this season and their window to win is shuting. But, after get Tavares and with 2 of their top players still in their entry-contracts, they should try to get great rental players like Karlsson and Pacioretty to win this season.

the value for karlsson just isn't there. they don't need late firsts, they need impact players. nylander gets you him, perhaps even straight up

First things first.. Ottawa basically has no trade policy with Toronto.. so Karlsson to Toronto is wet dream of my teams fans (it would never happen).. also those packages of basically nothing (Kappy is bottom-6 winger at best) doesnt give you either of those players..

Two absolutely horrible trades that neither team would do.

The Phaneuf trade would probably prove that point wrong, but I agree that there's nothing there to make either of these deals happen.

The Phaneuf trade was made by different GMs, Lou and Murray were close friends and thats why Phaneuf deal went through. Now with Dorion in place and Leafs success, there is no-deal policy.

Gotcha. The old "Hey, we're on of the worst teams in the NHL but how dare we trade amongst division rivals, regardless if it's the best offer" policy. Seems like a narrow minded approach to fixing your team. Should a division rival pay more of a premium then other teams? Absolutely. But to cut off communication completely is foolish.

It just represents how stupidly that organisation is running. They get the best return always from rivals, but that just shows how they are ran..

Ottawa can get more from Karlsson, but unless Pacioretty improves his last season performance, what I offered is surely what he deserves. 17 goals and 37 points is not great numbers at all.
