Even with the condition that he signs, I'd have to pass on this. While I think that Artemi Panarin is extremely good and within the realm of debate for top-winger, Columbus has a strong incentive to move him, amid rumors that he wants to play for an East Coast team.

When applying that information to the trade market, it lower's his trade value. His contract would have to be under 8M AAV for this deal to be strongly considered, as this deal is far too rich in terms of value given up. I'd rather take my chances with him in Free Agency before I move Travis Konecny, Morgan Frost, and a 1st round pick for him, regardless of how talented he is.

Although I agree with the fact that it would be better to get him in free agency, I don’t think PHI is a realistic landing spot in free agency.. the Flyers would give up a lot, but none of the assets given up are close to what Panarin can bring. Konecny is good, but not elite. Frost projects as maybe a 2C and that 1st rounder would be a late 1st. I think it’s fair value to obtain an elite player who carried the CBJ by himself last year

Same division, if anything it would cost philly more.

Yea hard pass on this. A 21 year old who just nearly put up 50 points, a potential 1C (Frost does not project as "maybe a 2C") and a 1st round pick for 1 year of Panarin? If Philly was in need of a LW, didn't sign JVR AND Panarin worked out a deal prior to the trade going down then sure it would definitely be worth it. Too many variables and not area of need from Philly's end.

Why ? You are aware that Panarin has been a PPG guy his entire career, right ? And that Panarin carried the Jackets on his back during the playoffs. Konecny’s good, but he is not Panarin good.

With Panarin on the team, that first rounder becomes a late first rounder also
