Please no.. why would we move someone for pick is my first question, the second question is what makes you think that Severson is upgrade on Zaitsev and the third question is why is each piece coming to CGY better than pieces coming to TOR?

1) We will be promoting Sparks - may as well get something back from McElhinney; 2) Severson for Zaitsev may be a wash, but with a change of scenery, both players could improve. At the very least, we save around $400-$500k on cap space for a younger player with one year less term; and 3) you are trading for cheap controllable potential with Rasmus Andersson who is a puck-moving RHD, which we could use. Brown is expendable and will likely be playing 4th line minutes. Trade him while his value is high(er)

1) you can get player for MacElhinney back, we dont need meaningless picks. Leafs are aiming for players back. 2) Zaitsev does not need the change of scenery! He needs to just step on the ice.. he was on sophomore slump last year and would be back and stronger. That amount of money literally means nothing. Zaitsev in his best is better than Severson in his best. Defensively for sure. 3) Brown is not moved, possibly not until 2020 season and after young players from within take place in lineup. And we have one very good puck-moving RHD, his name is Igor Ozhiganov who is very very very good defender and he was signed for the purpose of helping our team so we dont need to trade our assets for RHD.

Im afraid Zaitsev pulled Joe Flacco on Toronto ( but without getting a Cup in the signing year )

Well.. lets hope not. IMO he just needs to regain his confidence back and he would be fine (hopefully)

Please stop trading Zaitsev... Broken foot and a really bad flu last season he was wiped right out... still managed to improve his -22 from 2 years ago to a +8. He’s a solid defender, smart puck mover, great on the pp and can jump into the rush.... when he is healthy. He’s going to be great.

To add to what Sammy said, we Have Oz he is a smooth skater, hard hitter soft hands type of guy with great gap control and sound defensive play.... also the hardest shot in the KHL. If he pans out he will be a beast. If he doesn’t... he’ll be okay.

Why do we need another liljegren? I’m not saying that I would mind having andersson but why give up pieces for what we already have.

No he was hurt and sick... the first half of his season was great, think that’s what we will get all year.
