Yes, they're in: Nashville, Winnipeg, Tampa Bay, Boston, Toronto, Washington, Pittsburgh
Probably in: Vegas, San Jose, Philadelphia, Columbus, St. Louis
Hard to decide, but yes: Edmonton, Arizona, Florida, Colorado
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hard to decide, but no: Calgary, Anaheim, Dallas, New Jersey
Probably out: Los Angeles, Minnesota, Carolina, Buffalo
No way they make it: NY Islanders, NY Rangers, Detroit, Montreal, Ottawa, Chicago, Vancouver

What do you think?

Carolina definitely out? If Mrazek plays like a starter they could be very good. I have them probably out but i'd have to say there's an at least okay chance they make it ... Detroit has no real decent chance IMO ... the Rangers make it? I agree LA is overrated.

I really feel like the Oilers are gonna have a better ear ... Arizona has to make it in eventually, they've really improved this offseason. LA keeps making the playoffs if they're coming off a year they missed, and missing the playoffs when they'd just made it. Kovalchuk is older now and that division has improved. I don't think they're gonna make it.

How does ARizona match up to LA lmao. LA have a better goale, way better D, An elite two way Center with a great supporting Cast. AZ still is missing pieces.

Yup.

If Wallmark plays like a #1C they could be very good as well.

Arizona has more forward depth, and also a decent D. I feel like Strome, Dvorak, etc will finally have breakout years.

No team has to make it eventually. Look at the Cleveland Browns. What have the Yotes done to drastically improve: brought in Grabner?

Grabner, Galchenyuk, Hinostroza ... and it's not just about who's best 'on paper'.

Galchenyuk replaces Domi. Hinostroza doesn't drastically improve any team. What intangibles do you see working in Arizona's favor?

You do know only 8 teams make it in each conference, right?

East
Definitely in: Tampa, Washington, Pittsburgh
Likely in: Toronto, Boston, Columbus
Possibly in: Florida, Philadelphia, New Jersey
Possibly out: None
Likely out: New York Rangers, Buffalo, Carolina, New York Islanders
Definitely out: Ottawa, Detroit, Montreal

West
Definitely in: Winnipeg, Nashville
Likely in: San Jose, Vegas, St. Louis, Minnesota
Possibly in: Colorado, Anaheim, Calgary
Possibly out: Arizona, Los Angeles, Dallas, Edmonton
Probably out: Chicago
Definitely out: Vancouver

The reason I have 9 teams in each conference is because it's possible but unlikely. The West is much more open than the East because the West has only 2 teams with next to no chance while the East has 9 teams with good playoffs odds are the rest don't seem to likely to make the playoffs.

They're playoff chances rest solely on Raanta. The guy is an absolute stud. If he goes down again, they're screwed.

The only prospects expected to have any impact are strome, merkley, and capobianco. Strome could have an impact, but I don't see him carrying the team (and he could just as easily flame out, based on past attempts to integrate him). I don't see much more than average rookie output from Merk, and Capo is an extra d-man.

One thing I noticed when I made this list is that the East is much more top and bottom heavy. Whereas the West doesn't have the top strength or the bottom weakness the East does, but has more teams that can contend for the playoffs.
