Well offer sheets will not be a problem for the Leafs. Offer sheets don't happen anymore ... ever. Your problem is that LA has NO reason to give up Kempe and a 2nd that could turn into a 1st for Marleau and his contract. He's in his late 30s and they're not gonna do that just to give the Leafs can space. Also, why would the Oilers do that? Zaitsev's good but not as good as Klefbom, and a 3rd isn't gonna make it fair.

An offer sheet for Marner or Matthews does not worry me as the # would have to be so big no team will make it and give up 4 First round picks. I'm more concerned about offer sheets for Kap or AJ at like 3 or 4 mill per that we would have trouble matching

forget the prospect of offer sheets, you're dumping marleau and respect an actual return? that's an overpayment and then some

What about a 2nd in the Klefbom deal.

Nobody wants his contract

No, don't trade for Klefbom unless you pay the price.

How about nothing since he is not waiving his damn NMC to leave the Leafs!

hahah at all these trades. Nashville wouldnt even make that trade because arvidson is on a friendly contract. the klefbom deal is not close and your absolutely crazy if you think A patty is going anywhere and B your getting anything back let alone kempe. the fact that you even mentioned a first is beyond me

A lot of less-experienced AGM's try to resolve Toronto's 2019 cap problem by blithely trading Marleau somewhere. He has a No Movement Clause. It's not going to happen.

CapFriendly's otherwise excellent software (it corrects mis-spellings my multimillion-dollar law firm's program doesn't catch) should automatically prevent trading guys with NMC's, just like it prevents reverting trades when you no longer have the player on your team.

Sorry I didn't see the NMC. And please don't call me a rookie I've posted 376 times on this site. I know I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Now you'll never trade a guy with a NMC again and so you won't be "less experienced." As for relative brightness, you should know that I'm the dolt that traded Erik Karlsson to Florida so that Mrs. Karlsson could reacquaint herself with Mrs. Hoffman.

Disagree. Players with NTC / NMC's get traded all the time. The clause just allows the player to be in control of whether he gets moved and to where. The player has the option to waive the clause when requested.

With respect to Marleau, I don't see him wanting to go anywhere else at this point. He wants to win, he committed to Toronto based on the "big 3" and now they've added Tavares so his chances of winning are as good there as anywhere.

Players with NMC's get traded all the time in real life. It's not wrong to create an AGM with this happening, just try to make it a realistic scenario and justify your thinking in the Team Explanation.

Instead of saying the Leafs are are screwed if a offer sheet comes. Try this. Make a projected lineup for 2019/20 without any trades, you'll see the Leafs are under the cap. Leafs really don't a LHD at the expense of a RHD. Doubtful Hainsey returns.
I admit if an absurd offer sheets comes for Marner or Matthews the Leafs lose those players. But how are they screwed? They just take that money they had allotted for those guys, spend it elsewhere and have the draft picks. Unpleasant, short term lose, but hardly a screwing.
