Thomas untouchable and you most likely won't get an offer unless you retain Price.

Marc Bergevin apparently refused an offer from St. Louis : Robert Thomas, Jake Allen and a 1st round pick. MB pushed for two 1st round picks, and Carter Hutton instead of Allen, and with Robert Thomas as well. St. Louis refused.

I see you even gave Lehkonen and Bitten, but I would also add a young left winger, maybe an other prospect just to make sure it goes through and get rid of Price and his insane cap hit.

given only a dozen people a privy to exact details on trades like this i highly doubt this is true in any sense.
i heard proabably a half dozen versions of that trade and zero had a source that was credible with even TSN analyst's disagreeing about which version they heard.

the truth is MB cant trade Price after signing him to that bad of a contract with 80%+ in guaranteed cash each year play , lockout or retire .
even if he did finding another Subban type 1 for 1 deal the President ,CEO and Owner would fire him long before taking the heat for allowing MB to piss away both diamonds from the Gainey years while getting absolutely nothing in return .(as with contracts this extreme like Prices and Subbans you dont get top picks or prospects in return)

in all honesty Price for Allen straight up would be the only deal i'd see STL making because Price could be injured his first season there but STL will have to foot the bill for Years and Years .
maybe you convince them to give up a conditional pick or a mid level prospect where Allens struggled since then with consistency but no way in hell you land all that given the history of top goalies being traded in the league never has going back to Hasek being moved to DET or Roy being moved to COL its just unreasonable to expect a goalie to land that

Blues have already expressed that Thomas is untouchable no way you pull this deal off.

There were just rumours, you're right, but it was about a very similar trade, so I mentioned it. I should've said that it was a rumour.

Anyway...

I think Price can be traded next season if he gets an amazing regular season. I'm sure some of the american teams with questionable management, like Carolina, would be ready to give a decent goalie + good prospect in return for Price. And I would personally do that trade, because that 10.5 is going to kill MTL for the next 8 years.

I don't think anyone is untouchable. If Washington gave them Ovechkin and Kuznetsov, I'm sure they'd say yes. Probably not, because of cap, but surely you understand what I mean.

i dont his contract doesnt allow him to be traded until 2022 because no team is going to touch the payoff that comes in the first 4 years.
after MTL foots the bill on that and only if Price moves his NMC does this happen .

Remember Price holds 100% control with his NMC because of his Contract Structure he's buyout proof (i say buyout proof because the cap hit is so high no team in their right mind would do it )
this is the worst contract i've seen since Bryzlgalov who's was in no way this 1 sided for the goalie as bad as it was

have you looked at Price's Buyout Calculator Recently ?
its takes on a 9-10m cap hit the full term of the contract due to its structure .
only Ryan O'reilly currently has a contract structured like this where it makes his buyout impossible for most teams .

i listen to Tim and Sid talk about this all the time how these contracts are going to be what sparks a lockout as owners wont put up with this accross the board just because 1-2 did . there is even talks that the next CBA will include caps on Signing Bonus's to keep this trend from continuing .

not many people look at Price's contract and just how bad it is .

But again is it likely that someone would offer that. Untouchable doesn’t necessarily mean untouchable it means a very very very big overpay. Price isn’t gonna bring in Thomas.
