The VAN trade is just silly. Canucks give up two high first rounders so they can dump Loui Ericsson ??? Not on this planet.

I think Lucic but my gosh Edmoton would be giving more than this.

I think they'll have to tough it out for a few more years with Looch and see if he can find some productivity. He'll never meet expectations of that contract though.

As for Ericsson, the Canucks don't need the cap space any time soon why not just ride out the contract.

Solid point I tried to think of the most repulsive contracts. Really the reason I dont hve Lucic is because of the NMC, anyway yeah they stick it out. Take out that 6m add a PTO
55m, 30 in cap space. Bobby Ryan Doesnt feel as bad about getting paid well.

Most of these trades are very slanted towards the Sens. Another person that doesn't understand LTIR and why teams don't give up substancial returns as in 99% of the time it does not affect a teams cap at all.

You are right and because I cant talk to those GMs I cant know what they want. But I do know that Dertoit, much like the Leafs are over and when Zadina hits 3.7m of bonuses. Their cap goes down by that much. You cant keep doing that , check the story of Boston and Rielly Smith.
I dont actually need the picks because fielding this team is only about getting to the cap floor, check coyotes of the last 5 years.

Franzen is simply so Eugene has almost 4 against the cap and pays nothing. I dont want picks, honestly, it would be nice. I want free cap, free as in it costs the owner no money.
Take a sec to look at Detroit's real team. Zets might actually be the better contract. Point being you do want want cap overages every year. The sens dont need it but free money for the owner to reach the cap floor sounds like a good idea to me.

        Not Horton, he isnt insured.
        Hossa insured.
        Savard insured.
        Pronger insured.
        Boland insured.
Franzen insured. With Detroit over the cap. I would be willing to take this for a PTBNL, just for the free cap bump.
Check I put them on Pro mode. It counts against the cap.

Thanks for confirming. You don't know how LTIR works. Forget the pro mode. The realities of cap work differently. Detroit might be willingly to move Franzen for performance bonuses pay bonuses purposes, but they certainly wouldn't give up much.

That's my point, performance bonuses, I would take a 5th and Franzen for a 7th. Works for me.
I am glad there are experts like you, that way you can help a guy like me understand it a little more. Thank you.
