First things first what offersheet???? There is no offersheet coming in on nylander.

Secondly why is the ntc so stupidly given? He scored 27 goals played like a beast and there is no signs that the iron man will slow down. He’s given us his leadership, production and 2 way play all at the relatively good price of 6.25m. He’s here to stay for his 3 years and i’m Fine with that. The leafs will sign all of their elc’s and marleau, hockey god’s willing, will win his cup here. Inventing fake reasons to panic doesn’t worry me.

Any team he has a chance to sign with don’t have the capita of picks to be able to over sheet. Nylander stuck in a contract battle. At this point it’s looking like 1 or 2 of the young core is gonna bridge

Yeah I just don’t get all of the huff and puff about this. If he holds out, so be it. He doesn’t even have arb rights. Toronto has all the leverage to sign him to a bridge and pay him what they want. Not everyone has to be as stupid as the oilers/Chirelli and forego their leverage for monster contracts to young RFAs.

Do what the Ducks did with Lindholm& Rakell, or Winnipeg with Trouba. So what if he misses a month of the season. Eventually he’ll realize he just wants to play, he’ll get paid well enough later

It was an offer sheet by another team on here. Wasn't anything major just seen and was bored so I threw something together.

It's stupidly given cause he's a 35+ old winger with a big cap hit. He has been great the past 2 years but what if someone does offer sheet what's stopping Leafs. I'm not complaining about the person or player just his cap hit. It was good the last 2 years but his final year of his deal is going to hurt even with Horton being able to go back on LTIR. I'd love to see him stay I just don't think we have the room anymore.

To put it in perspective: he scored 7 more goals than nylander playing on the 2nd and 3rd lines. I’m sure you would be okay with signing nylander at 6.25m. Nylander has had 2 solid seasons.... marleau has had 20 lol. This was all considered when signing Tavares. There will be no offersheets teams just don’t do them. If by some miracle one comes in we will match or take the picks depending on the deal. Either way the leafs will be just fine. Do we really want to overpay for nylander? Look at how well the rest of those offer sheets panned out. Over sheets usually mean over paying for a player and in the cap era you just can’t do that and stay competitive.

If some team offered Nylander 8m X 7, I would decline to match. Spend that 8m better and take those four first rounders.

What is that trade fro TVR. Why is it that other teams bottom end defensemen are so much better than the Leafs. TVR for Carrick is about fair. If the Leafs were desperate TVR for Brown.. Leafs have been subjected to many trades for a RHD, but this three for one is could the worse....ever. Sorry DJ.

Oh I know he won't get offer sheeted but like @palhal said even IF he does at that contract AND Nylander accepts then I'd take the 4 1sts.

As for the difference between Nylander getting 6.25 and Marleau getting 6.25 is over a DECADE of age difference. Sure Marleau is good now but what if he gets hurt. He won't recover like Nylander will.

I over payed cause lately if you don't over pay you get ripped by other teams fans for "giving trash and getting good players"

I do agree with the offer sheet part. If he accepts that I'd let him walk I just wanted to see what it'd look like I'd we matched and if it could be done.

Well nylander has missed more games in the last 3 years than marleau in the last 9 years... and nylander has only missed one lol.

I get where you are coming from but it is a short contract and as far as guys pushing 40 go it’s a pretty productive contract. The iron man has wheels to... he’s not trailing around out there.

I know there was a lot of talk especially from Leaf fans when Marleau signed last summer....me included. It wasn't so much that Marleau wasn't worth 6.25m, it was that third year and how it "might" affect the cap. But to me that bigger issue, could have that 6.25m been better spent, like on a dman. But so far, it's been good.. Marleau signed a three year contract with the Leafs for one purpose, to win a Cup.

I have a question. Would you rather pay Marleau 1 year 6.25 or Nylander 8 years 7-7.5 mill?

That's been my point since the contract was signed... I never liked that 3rd year. Sure Marleau is a great player but I'd rather spend that money on say a Tyler Myers

Please dream bigger... no pun intended.

If you’re asking me who I would rather have on the team it’s nylander hope we don’t have to pay him over 7m. I just really like what marleau brings and not just his production. The example that he sets of what it is to be a pro. Just hate to see people bagging on him about his age cause it doesn’t show on the ice... all. The grey hair is under his bucket lol.

I'm not bagging on him per say its more management for giving him a 3rd year. He's a great player it's just I'd rather see that money going elsewhere other then to a 37+ old vet rather then to say a Gardiner.
