Interesting to see how Nurse/Morrissey's contracts compare to this.

I thought he'd be among 6M-ish ... he as an all-star this year. Sure, it's just one year, but really? 4.95M?

Edit: Getting*, not among

Very good deal, specialy in today's NHL where defensemen make a lot of money and cap increase each year!

Steal of a contract

He stepped into the league as a DEF at 18 years old

Every single year through his ELC he took steps forward in almost every category

no reason to believe he'll stop improving

great cap hit and term for a 21 yr old that is still climbing towards his very high ceiling

So Josh Morrissey and Darnell Nurse 6 years at 4.5 mill a year?

I really hope so. I like Nurse but he hasn't proved enough to deserve more than that

Exact value now for what he brings to the table. If he takes the necessary next steps in his game which he should, years 4-6 of this contract are just a flat out bargain.

I'd still rather have Hamilton at a cap hit of only $5.75M, but this should be a pretty good value deal moving forward. Hamilton has averaged 45 points per season over her last 3 years but he's 4 years older than Hanifin who's averaged 27 points per season during that same span. Also, Hanifin only scored 7 PPP last season compared to 12 scored by Hamilton. He could add to that total on the Flames second PP unit w/ more offensive talent around him.

Wow, hopefully Provorov's camp will accept something similar!

I can't see Provorov getting less than 6 million. He and Ghost are studs.

This is highway robbery. Might seem like a fair deal now but in years 3-6 when he's a perennial all star and playing like a stud this will be far below market value.

It's a pretty standard deal. Could have been 500 k more but that's it. Good signing. I believe Flames won the trade.

I don't like it. Now Nurse is even less likely to sign a bridge deal.

He was only an all star b/c every team has to have at least one representative at the All Star Game. No way was he a top six D in the Metro. Otherwise, most of the Metro's team would've been selected from the Pens and Caps.

EDM is gonna be over the cap after the Nurse deal gets done. They blew it last season when they had the league's best player on an ELC. What a shame.
