Quoting: capsin9
I suggested trading for Kaprizov months ago but from what I'm to understand wild fans see him as being the next panarin and he wants to come to the nhl after his contract is up in the khl......I honestly would be happy swapping holtby for dub and a 1st.....caps need the space and they both have similar stats its not a major up or downgrade for either team
Nail on the head, I think Kaprizov is one of our few untouchable pieces. He will be very, very good. Here's a quote from
The Athletic about why Wild fans are so high on him from last December:
"Through 31 games this season, Kaprizov’s 32 points represent eight more than his next closest teammate with CSKA. He is seventh in the KHL in scoring and fifth in points per game. He is, without question, the best young player in the league, rivalled only by Vladimir Tkachyov (a 22-year-old with 0.79 points per game) and Eeli Tolvanen (an 18-year-old with 0.86), both of whom are dwarfed by his 1.03 point per game clip. The only under-24 players who’ve produced at Kaprizov’s level, in the history of the KHL, are Alexander Radulov, Artemi Panarin, Jan Kovar, Vladimir Tarasenko and Nikita Gusev."
This kid is going to be a stud.
As for the trade, Holtby would be nice for the Wild since Dubnyk might retire in 2 years when his contract ends which is when Kaprizov comes over. The only problem is that this price is way too steep to get him. I'm very skeptical about trading a 1st round pick since we've traded so many away in the past 6 drafts (3 of them if you count Alex Tuch to Vegas).
