Don't forget you can't just sign Voynov - you have to acquire his rights from LA first.

Something like Strome + 2nd for Pacioretty might work for both sides. It's highly unlikely that Edmonton would be able to extend Patches, so he'd be a 1-year rental.

I don't believe that to be true. LA terminated his contract 3 years ago, they no longer own his rights. If they did, his name would be on their reserve list, but it's not.

No, the L.A. Times has a mention about the status of Voynov roughly every ten days, so I think he does still belong to L.A.

I wonder if @CapFriendly can shed some light on this?

Sure thing that could work with some tweaking.

That's fine LA can have a 4th if oil make playoffs, 6th if they don't. Free picks as he's not going back to LA.

"It should also be noted that the Kings still have Voynov’s rights, even though his contract was terminated. He is on the Voluntary Retirement List, similar to Ilya Kovalchuk. You’ll remember that, last summer, since he wasn’t yet 35, anyone who wanted to sign him had to make a deal with New Jersey. Because Voynov has not missed at least one season of professional hockey, that’s the case here, too." from Elliotte Friedman. https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/interest-slava-voynov-explores-nhl-comeback/

Thanks. I wonder if their rights over Voynov expire next summer (when the original contract expires).
