Probably not quite ready for the backup spot behind Hellebuyck just yet. With Hutchinson gone, he'll be the starter for the MB Moose which should help his development.

any league minimum contract for a player like this is good value

Had to vote no for this. Sure, it's a league min, but I personally think he will steal the backup position this year because I've seen what Brossoit has to offer and I don't see him being consistent enough to warrant not trying Comrie. Comrie meanwhile looks like he is on the right track to becoming a solid goalie in the NHL; give him some backup time this year and he might provide the Jets with a bit of trade bait next offseason if he has good stats. Would have been better if they inked him for 2 years at a low salary though.

It could work out for the better with a 1 year deal instead of 2. If he has a good year this year, they can sign him for 3 or 4 years at a reasonable AAV. If they gave him a 2 year deal and he has 2 strong years, then the AAV would be higher. It's a guessing game though. Who knows what will happen
