Small detail, all picks going to Vegas have to be from 2019. "The draft picks must available in the nearest entry draft" https://www.capfriendly.com/offer-sheet-faq#club-submitting With this in mind, I don't see how this would be a positive move for Montreal. They get stuck with an inflated contact and potentially give Vegas a lottery draft pick.

SMH i just blasted you on another post for not being able to comprehend the purpose of this site .

we get it you need an outlet to distract you from how rotten your life's going but jesus guy grow up

"blasted" me on which post? grin lol.. My life is really good, not rotten at all and Im more than grown up.. This site is to get to other people to talk about trades, realistic signings and all that hockey stuff.. 7.2 million for 2nd pairing defender is too much to be even close to reality. Its stupid if I have to be completely honest, but if you were to trade for Theodore, giving him 4mil dollar 4-5yr deal and you would get possibly right deal for him for less than what you are giving to Vegas. Also offersheet compensation needs to be from upcoming draft which means 2019 1st (lottery pick), 2nd and 3rd round picks. Makes zero sense for Montreal to do this and its massive overpayment for top-4 guy. 7.2mil is 675k mil less than what Hedman got and he is arguably the best D in the league..

I think it would be easier to trade Pacioretty for Theodore rights.
Both need are negotiating for new contract and Vegas could be a great fit for Pacc... and we need a very young GOOD LD.

In regards of the other trade: Callahan won't move is NTC and getting Gourde is not the right fit for Mtl.
Maybe land this package for Tyler Jonhson might interest TB but they can sign Gourde for 3-4M$ IMO.
And No way NYR would say yes in getting overpay IronAlzy... for blocking shoots! They already have Staal so better keep him :-)

I don't see why Staal wouldn't. Better team and his brother is there.

yes but alzner has only a 7 team ntc. i think the rangers do it, retain half and ship him to another team.. if it gets them out of staal and beleskey, that's over 7 mill in cap.. jensen isn't signing anyway. i get that it's 4 years vs 2 but cost over term is 18.5 over 4 years vs 20.9 over 3.. just for cap purposes the savings would be:
    year 1 - 5.7+1.9 - 4.65 = 2.95
    year 2 - 5.7+1.9 - 4.65= 2.95
    year 3 - 5.7 - 4.65 = 1.05
    year 4 - -4.65 = 4.65

saving almost 3 mill the next two years may be worth it, they can bury alzner on the third pair/press box and buy him out that final year

they dump a lot of cap between beleskey and staal for the rights to a KHL player who likely isnt returning to the NHL.
all NYR got to do is take Alzner who's contract is way better then Staal's .

this isnt about whether Alzners Garbage but whether Garbage is better to have then a handicapped player on the constant decline with a buyout proof contract and full controll of his contract .

Not a 100%. There are good proposals. Despite of course the usual homerism, ignoring ntc, cap management, internal budgets and overvaluation of prospects lol. Yet owners DON'T offer sheet just to spike salaries, that's 100%!

Offer sheets are done. They are done and will 99.9% chance not happen in the current CBA, and probably not after that either. Why would Montreal EVER lose their 1st in 2019 to get stuck with a 7.2M Theodore? He's good but why 7.2M?

7.2 m because i was over paying to avoid arguments about him not signing for enough .
what i've learned is this site is full of opinions and very little logic based on fact so i'm screwed if i pander and screwed if i dont .

my first post was 6.2m cap and people freaked out lol
i added 1m to it as a result

you mean like PHI with Weber ?
    or like PHI with MTL?

tell me more about how other teams dont use offersheets to drive up contract costs
and i'll look at this Historically in Context as they Factually Happen
