Shea Weber....would make us forget how terrible was the Subban trade and allow our defence to be more moible and younger. But since he has next to no trade value it will be very difficult unfortunately.....Bergevin made sure to take back a contract no1 would want.

Likely just pending UFAs at the deadline, or maybe even earlier - Benn, Byron and Plekanec. We still need to ice a somewhat "respectable" NHL team so can't see the established veterans moved this year - Price, Petry, Weber. But you never know.

Weber is one year removed from finishing 6th in Norris (his first year in MTL). He played every game last season with a broken foot and would've still received votes for the Norris.

You are completely out to lunch if you think he has next to no trade value.

LOL you are completely out to lunch buddy, and you don't even mention his god damn awful contract. He is now injury prone, aging and lacks mobility. Theres a ton of d-man better than him now. He is never getting close to any norris trophy at 33yrs old+ really gotta stop evaluating the guy based on bias predictions. Weber was never even close to be Norris nominee in his time in mtl.

He finished 6th in Norris voting in 2016-17, that's a fact.. in that same year Subban didn't receive a single vote despite playing 80% of the season.

Tell me how his contract is "God awful"? At $7.8M / year he only needs to be 85% the player subban is to justify his cap hit vs. Subbans $9M. That will be even less once subban asks for his next contract, which will be a lot considering he is a UFA and the cap keeps rising. From a management point of view over the next 8 years Weber will be paid $30M, Subban will be paid $36M over the next 4 alone - Weber is the better investment financially.

4 years from now Weber will be only making $3M and then $1M / year for the last 3 season. If MTL wants to trade him to unload his cap hit (they won't want to), they could easily move him to a low budget team who can fit his cap hit.

Zdeno Chara is still considered one of the top dman in the league and he is 41 years old. He just signed a $5M contract extension.

Andrei Markov missed two full seasons and was still an effective top 4 defenseman at age 38. Weber will be missing one year. For a guy like subban who relies on skating to make his game effective, it would be a worrisome injury, for a guy like Weber who relies on physical strength, slap shot, positioning etc. and plays a fairly simple yet effective game it's not even a concern.

Also if Weber retires early Nashville is screwed due to the recapture penalty.

The difference in production we are talking about here is webers 40-55 pts / year vs subbans 40-60 pts.

Let me sum everything up here:
- Webers contract is not awful, in fact it's better than subbans.
- He has had one injury in his career now he is injury prone?
Ironically it was subban who had two straight seasons dealing with injuries at the time of the trade.. but he isnt injury prone?
- You claim I have a bias when your avatar is literrally subban LOL
- "Weber was never even close to a Norris nominee in his time in MTL" - a biased subban fan.. he literally finished 6th in Norris voting and subban didn't receive a single vote that season.

Anyways tell me more how I am biased and Weber is untradeable, I'm dying to here about it.

Also you'll never see Weber do this:

cbb reading all this crap sorry.
Only a dead-brain habs fan thinks Weber has good trade value, ask any other fan of other teams if they want this dead weight on their team you'll see.
