Huge overpay for Price and idk if Mtl would retain 3 mill longterm. Take out Nylander and one 1st and it should be done but without retention

Thanks. Appreciate the input. If Buffalo get to the second round AND Price is a Vezina finalists, Reinhart and three #1s is not asking too much. Thought eating Moulson and sending Byron and Lernout was worth Nylander, who is having trouble getting strong enough and making the jump to North Am. But I am glad to consider a deal without him.

I don't think the Habs would worry about the $3M because they have loads of space now and by 2022 or so, $3M will be chump change.

Scaled back to Price for Reinhart and a #1 -- with the conditionals obviously only kicking in on Price's success -- would that get your attention ... or you think Buffalo's crease is fine? Not clear. Legit question.

It means Habs are going with Lindgren, Niemi and McNivan, so it's certainly not without some risk.

Sabres don't need to give up key pieces for a 31 year old goalie possibly on the decline. I think they are set right now on having the current goalie tandem. Buffalo would rather role with the youth.

Good in a few years, perhaps, but there would be a lot of flailing goaltending between now and then.

We dont care about moulson, it's his last year and he is buried. Goalies, especially those who are tied to big money for 8 years are almost worthless in trades. There is not enough difference between elite and good for it to matter.

Buffalo is building a young core

Eichel drafted in 15
Reinhart in 14
Ristolainen in 13
Dahlin 18
Mittelstadt 17

We are not trading everything for a 31 year old goalie who makes huge money. My god

Would be paying Price 7.5m.. with a Franchise Goalie like Price, Buffalo would be an instant Stanley Cup Favorite.. it all depends on what you would be willing to pay for a Cup

I dunno. You'd be pretty close, with about $6M to spend at the TDL, which is why you'd want to dump Moulson.

Botterill has made some stupid moves but hes not chiarelli. Hes not moving multiple firsts and young players under team control for a 31 year old goalie thats gonna make tons of money for the better part of the next decade. I see maybe one of those firsts getting moved, and thats later in the season if they are near a wild card, doubt its for a goalie, if the goalies are average it will be for a winger or help on d.

This place is so ridiculous sometimes.

We are not trading reinhart, nylander and multiple 1sts for like a .08 difference in save percentage that comes with huge money for 8 years

A Cup? Price's team finished with the 3rd overall pick.

How does that make his new team, that had the 1st overall pick, all of the sudden become "instant Stanley Cup favorites" ??? Especially after giving up 3 1st round picks/players.

With Tatar, Gallagher, Weber, Kot, Drouin, Domi, Shaw , Petry, Alznet, Juulsen and a FRANCHISE GOALTENDER the Canadiens should be Cup favorites. No??

Uh no... Buffalo has an Elite Center.. a Franchise Defensemen and if they got Price they would have a Franchise Goaltender... All that Montreal has is a Franchise Goaltender

Montreal Added Tatar, Domi while subtracting Pacioretty and Galchenyuk (our two highest scoring players)

Buffalo Added Skinner, and Dahlin while not losing a single core player... see where I come from?

Buffalo is a contend now team where Montreal is really at the beginning of a re-tool/rebuild.

Buffalo was the worst team in the league last year and they have many young players that need to prove something before they can really be called win now. They moved ror for some stuff, they picked up skinner to help score some goals while not contributing much else, and the d is pretty much desperate for not only dahlin to step in and be a difference maker, but guhle as well. This team was thoroughly dominated in their own zone and the forwards didnt exactly get it done when they had the chance. Im still a believer in getting lots of skaters right before considering looking for an upgrade in goal. And thats with ullmark who i believe is technically a rookie, and hutton, who is a journeyman who put up good numbers behind a very good defensive st louis team.

Wow, paranoid much? All I said was that Buffalo is actually a pretty good team that is closer to the Cup than even its fans seem to think. Do I think Price would help? Sure. Do I think he's the difference maker? Maybe. But after years of sucking ass for so long, Buffalo is a pretty impressive team.
