The value may not be accurate, but after seeing what Montreal got for pacioretty vs what hab fans thought he was worth, the author shouldn’t take criticism from a Montreal fan

One's a five time 30 goal scorer, the other has done it twice with an elite center that is now gone. But yeah, they're comparable.

1- Patch > Lee
2- Silverberg > Tatar
3- Suzuki = Steel
4- 2nd round > 4th round

It wouldn't be this. Terry + Eaves and a 2nd or Silfverberg and a minor prospect and a pick if theyre in a playoff position

If Lee puts up 40 with Tavares, I don't think 30+ with Barzal is that much of a stretch so going forward its not that big a deal. Why is this so uncertain for some of you? 40 goals in the NHL is ridiculously hard, even with a superstar next to you. Playing next to a superstar is easy. Producing elite numbers next to one is not.

Pacioretty landed Tatar, Suzuki and a 2nd when MTL had their backs to the wall looking for the best deal possible before the golf tournament ....... Lee is younger and the Isles are under no PR time constraint to move him.

Anaheim doesn't have to accept this offer if they don't like it (If i were in their position I wouldn't either) but its not a bad offer by any means.

Anders Lee is underrated. Big body, big hockey sense, big scoring
Sam Steel and Silfverberg are good, but no way the Islanders can be confident that Steel becomes as good or better than Lee in time
the expected return from a 4th round pick is insignificant.

More like 2nd + Steel + Montour + Silfverberg for a fair attempt
Change Montour to Manson and I'd take that as NYI, but ANA wouldn't offer it.

Pacioretty is a bad comparison, MTL had to trade him ASAP and it was no secret
The Pacioretty trade was more like CGY trading Dougie Hamilton, who fell apart without his professional best friend and brother on the team

Think of ROR instead. 1st + 2nd + 2 good established middle 6 players

I think this trade fits into the rebuild plans for next couple years. Steel will eventually be the 2C we need and Silverberg plays in all situations, offsets some of the production lost by Lee and makes us stronger on the right side (which we need now) st a cheaper cost. Also gives us more room to make offer to Panarin he cant refuse.

I think the ROR comparison is off because he is a 1C and they are more valuable.
