What. A. Steal. He signed for far less than what high end centers are getting these days. He's clearly committed to Dallas, and this gives them a good chunk of cap space to pull of an Erik Karlsson trade if they really want it. Amazing.

Seriously? Far less than other high end Centers? Kopitar got $10M-pretty much the same deal, and he was a hart trophy finalist last season and a 2 time Cup champ. Stamkos took an 8 year deal w/ an AAV of $8.5M. He's very similar to Seguin. Toews at $10.5M is a 3 time Cup winner and top 100 player of all time. McDavid is obviously is a different class than Seguin. Finally, Tavares got the extra $1M, but for one less season. His circumstances were also vastly different as he was UFA and had multiple teams bidding for him. Seguin and Tavares are comparable players and he'd have probably gotten the extra million if he'd waited til next summer to sign.
