Winner? Loser? This is a no brainer.

What is the condition? If Melnyk leaves they get the picks and this clownshow can finally end?

That Sharks Blue Line now. Sweet Jesus!

And the Avs are even better positioned to draft Jack Hughes next year now, and they don't even have to lose for him ...

Condition for one of the 1sts: If Karlsson plays for an Eastern Conference team, Ottawa gets another 1st. Pathetic. Dorion is a ****ing idiot.

No Merkley, no Meier, no LeBanc. They got a 3rd line center, a college player who could choose not to sign there, and a few picks. Yeesh

Ottawa did get SJ's 2017 1st round selection, a 2020 1st round pick, a 2019 2nd round pick, and a potential 2021 2nd rounder. All for a guy, regardless of how great he is, who only has 1 year left on his contract. I would say Ottawa got a pretty good return, given that there is no guarantee Karlsson will sign with SJ long term (or any other team for that matter, with the exception of maybe TB.) If SJ ends up winning a cup because of this, then it was clearly a great trade for them, but that is a big IF.

If if there is no extension, this is a farcical return for OTT franchise player. I genuinely feel bad for Sens fans at this point, their franchise is one gigantic tire fire.

This is a franchise altering type trade. Dorion whiffed on it. He traded the best player the franchise has ever had, for what? I'm higher on Josh Norris than most are, but he probably maxes out as a 2C. Balcers is nice, but he's a complementary piece. Tierney and Demelo are just roster players that they don't need. They got a 2020 1st, when they still don't have a 2019 1st. Two more picks are nice, but the chances any of this becomes worth just 1 season of Erik Karlsson is nuts.

Dorion has whiffed on two huge trades for this franchise, and it's left them in a hell hole. He now has my distinction as the worst GM in the game right now. The worst roster in the game and no first round pick or elite prospects to show for it.

I'm agreeing with you on most things, but they got some prospects... Chabot made the jump last year and is now automatically the number 1 in Ottawa pretty much, there's Tkatchuk, Brown, White, Formenton, Batherson, Luchuk, and now Norris. Defence prospects are slim beyond Bernard-Docker though.
