Toronto have screwed themselves by signing Tavares IF this actually happens. Still with Marner and Matthews next year as RFAs

We didnt screw ourselves but I get what you are saying. If there is one of those 3 players (Matthews, Marner and Nylander) to trade than Nylander, easiest to replace tbh. But realistically I personally see Nylander signing Pastrnak kinda deal sooner rather than later. And Matthews and Mitchy would get signed. They are smart guys hopefully.

TML screwed themselves not with signing Tavares, but with Marleau ( tho i like the guy a lot ) while knowing Nylander, Matthews and Marner are coming on line

tho its still doable : https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/843302

but with Gardiner gone and no RD added

This is an interesting idea, Sammy. And I think fair value. The longer Nylanders contract negotiations go on, the more trade ideas we'll see, I'm sure. But I suspect he'll be signed soon; it certainly sounds like Dubas wants him around long term.

As far as this trade goes, it would address the d need and add a defensive forward with some touch to the mix (I think Kadri and Silfverberg would make for 2 pieces of a nice shutdown line) And i think it helps Anaheim retool a bit with their aging core. It also creates some cap flexibility moving forward, allowing the leafs to sign Johnsson and Kapanen to fair contracts next year, and maybe resign Gardiner too. I like it!

But I think Willy signs soon and that hes not going anywhere. . Seems like a game of chicken right now

Agreed with everything you said. But Gardiner would not be Leaf coming July 1st, 2019. I too agree that he would get signed and sooner than later.

Yeah, it's likely Jake is gone next year. My bet is he'll have a great year, put up really good numbers, and the get big money and fan love from another team. And then leafs fans will need to find a new whipping boy.. I'll put a nickel on it being Z smile
