Realistic next season?

Created by: joshelkin
Team: 2019-20 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 14, 2018
Published: Sep. 14, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Move Bailey back to 2C (rather than pursuing Duchene - which would be a fine plan B just for the record) in order to chase a much bigger fish in Panarin.

Varlamov used to entice Sorokin to make the jump to the NHL. They are close friends. In addition, NYI would have another key Russian, Panarin, in this scenario. They also drafted Ruslan Iskhakov in the 2nd round in 2018. He played with Sorokin before joining UCONN.

This actually makes sense for Panarin. He wants a big city, right?

No more JT means a lot of space.

Yup exactly. His short list *apparently* includes and in no particular order: NYI, NYR, DAL, TB.

The thing is, Jarmo will not want to let the closest thing he has to an Elite forward (note: forward*) for nothing... its not going to be much, but I would think the Isles would have to give at least a 2nd + a prospect (if not more) to secure the negotiation with Panarin.

Should have said it in the description, but this post was made with the thought CBJ deals Panarin to a contender at the deadline (who can't afford him long term) solely for a cup run. He would hit the open market after the season.

I'd still pay a little something if it meant getting the breadman sooner, just not the line of thought I had when making this post.
