This thread will be used to designate players you have released from their contract. As of today, any players you have signed that do not have a contract IRL can be released from their contracts. If said player ends up signing a deal later on, the team that released them in the game will have the first opportunity to match the real-life contract.

you can't release people that were bought out IRL.. this release thread was supposed to be for players that were signed as FAs that didn't make NHL rosters. Not just contracts we don't want. He would have to be bought out in the game to be released from his contract. However, if the rules are we are allowed to release anyone then we need more clarification.

Steve Mason had a contract when the game began and since he was not bought out in the game during the offseason buyout window, his contract remains in the game. You may not terminate his contract; you may opt to buy him out during the buyout window. From the rules doc:

"In expansion draft years, the first buyout window will be before the expansion draft and the second window will be after the entry draft, but before free agency."
