If one team deserves to object from this set of trades, it's Montreal

But really, Weber's long term contract is both a burden to a rebuilding Montreal and reduces trade interest. Meanwhile is Gallagher valuable to Montreal if it's a losing team without direction?

This buys immediate hope and direction, and it gambles MTL won't pay the cost of weakening the D

I can't see any team wanting to take on Webers contract for 8 more years (until he's 41), his injury concerns only make it worse. The NHL is getting younger and younger, trading a 22 year old elite player locked up for his prime for a 33 year old elite player who's locked up for probably the worst years of his career doesn't make a lot of sense. And Gallagher and a 1st aren't enough reason to do the trade. Shea Weber's contract is just too brutal
