The only thing the Leafs have that STL wants is draft picks, they already got Bozak for free.

You could get more than nothing for Gardiner.

If you want to move out a veteran D, Zaitsev is tied for 64th in the league in terms of cap hit. He's worth $3.5 (98th) maybe, and a good deal below $2.5 (124th)

Carrick should not be a Leaf long-term, he'll fill a spot but he is what he is and that's a fringe NHLer.

Right idea but poor valuations.

I really like the Nylander trade. the only problem that I can think of is the fact that St Louis probably won't be able to afford an extension that a player like Nylander is deservant of. If the talks are true that he's asking for 8.5 mil, this trade doesn't go through, but otherwise, great trade!

The Leafs address a need and save some cap room. They move a guy like Kapanan up the lineup who isn't as good, but still fits. Blues get a potential superstar. I think he ends up signing for closer to 6.5-6.9 mil.
