blue line help from the enemy

Created by: MTLaveragefan
Team: 2018-19 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 19, 2018
Published: Sep. 19, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
we have Matthew, Marner, kapanen, gardiner and many more to sign next year with not much cap space... and everybody is looking to get a raise!

I think getting a guy like Weber would be a great way to Upgrade our blue line and PP, while having him at 5.5M for the rest of his career (which like a Znedo Chara will still perform like the man-mountain he is) makes him attractive knowing how tight the budget is. either a 6.8M for two years (then another raise) or 7 x 7M for Nylander makes it relatively hard to do. (leaving no space to sign any futur rookies or other Dman)

yes, it really really is that bad. It's as bad as the crazy posts about price fetching multiple first rounders.

No one is touching that Weber contract. I realize it goes back to Nashville if he retires but with him out till December and then questionable health and performance after that...

Maybe at the TDL you can move him if he’s looking good but it’s gonna be a huge burden to retain salary for that long.

Stop it man, Weber for Nylander is already a better return than what Ottawa got for Karlsson - You guys are kinda screwed if he doesn't want less than 7M or sticks to the 8M... Also Babcock Freaking loves Weber and would kill Dubas not to take that deal.

One bad year... give me a break, also this summer he has decide to fix a long-time injury that bothered him (meaning it won't hurt any more)... also questionable performance? The dude played 26 games with a BROKEN foot and scored 15 pts (a better PPG than Subban at that time) on a shitty team with a goalie who couldn't stop a beach ball that year.

multiple? as in two... if a 34yo Rick Nash can get a 1st round pick... be damn sure that an Elite G like Price can fetch two (in the right circonstances)

I don't know why folks don't understand the concept of the CBA or any type negotiation, doesn't it really matter what one side wants. Montreal fans really know what a bad deal Weber is long term, since 99% of Weber trade are to the Leafs. Can't Weber be traded to any other team? Guess not as it appear no other teams want him. Sorry if you didn't understand what Babcock said on TV about Weber. "What else is he going to say? Weber is OK, Weber is a bad player. The league has a cap so Babcock can say he loves Crosby, Doughty, Price, Weber....means absolutely nothing. You just can't acquire your favourite players. Personally I'm glad Babcock isn't the Leaf GM, I think he mishandles the his Lea roster now, and what hate to see the damage he could do with the authority to makes trades.

did rick nash have 8 years left at 10.5 million per? always hurt? didn't think so. Price can get like, a 2nd rounder and mid tier prospect unless they retain salary.

IMO Babcock. is a poor bench coach at times. Looks like you just confirmed it....thanks. But really what does have to do with the untradeable contract of Weber...or Price or Alzner.

leafs and habs are hardly enemies right now. let the habs and leafs get in a playoff run or series then it can be talked about. right now habs seem nothing but a little pimple in the Atlantic

I think leafs' fan are living in a Bubble, Wait till Tavares is 34-35 and still payed 11M, talk to me then, then you'll see that Weber's 7.5M isn't bad at all.

with AM34 at 11 or 12, Marner at 8, Nylander at 7 and no defense and no cap space to upgrade the team

If he doesn't retire before that... and also, he is like a Zedno Chara... I'll still be good when he is 40 (okay, maybe tired like Markov was... ) His game is not built on speed like Karlsson -> so it he won't be that affected by old age
