Description
What do you guys think?

I think if it’s a week before camp and Nylander is still signed maybe Dubas should look into a potential trade. If Nylander will not sign for any less than what he is asking I think it’s good to explore your options.

Faulk I think is still a very solid, could say Elite Top 4 defenseman who can play top pairing minutes as well. He comes with an offensive upside and helps solidify that weak RHD side for Toronto. Di Giuseppe is a very solid depth player who is still young and if he cannot crack the squad, he helps the Marlies a lot. The 2nd Round Pick is the higher (or better) of the two that Carolina currently owns, it’s likely this pick will be from 32nd to 45th-ish overall.*

If Carolina makes the playoffs next season, the 2019 BUF 2nd turns into a 2019 CAR 1st.

I think Carolina would even up that pick tbh, for Carolina, losing their spare D man for a top line winger to play alongside Aho, I like it.

Fair enough, my outlook on it is that they now have Pesce and Hamilton also on the RHD side, so they move Faulk to go, also they bolster their offence. I think Nylander in his prime is a 70-80 point player on the right line, hence the added value along with a very good defenseman in Faulk.

What’s your reason for Carolina saying no?

He is in Carolina. He's not better then Pesce or Hamilton... he'd be 3rd line so getting Nylander for him is a nice addition. Having TvR on the 3rd pair instead is not a massive downgrade. The blue line remains stupidly good, and you add a point scorer

That would be a deal breaker. The 2nd round pick was pushing it as it was. But it was doable, 1st is not.

Nylander would be playing RW with Aho. Faulk is definitely needed by Toronto but he is not even near a "spare d-man" he will most likely play on a pair with Hamilton. But everybody is forgetting that Toronto DOES NOT HAVE CAP SPACE TO SIGN NYLANDER WITH MATTHEWS AND MARNER.

I'll remember that next time someone says kapanen is worth more than his stats show because he plays behind marner and nylander.

Faulk wears a letter, is still only 26, is an olympian, 5 straight years over 30 points, He also played more minutes per game than either hamilton or pesce last year, as well as the year before. He also is on a reasonable contract.

Pesce is a bargin of a contract, Pesce has more 5on5 mins then Faulk and Hamilton wasn't in Carolina so he's irrelevant. Pesce is the best RHD in the NHL in his own zone according to the stats on hockey reference. Pesce and is one of the best Shutdown guys in the league is 23 and is only gonna get better. Hamilton is a cup winner, and better in every aspect of the game Faulk is the spare

Chances are one of them plays their off hand.

Just beause they have a few good players, doesnt mean they'd just give Faulk away

Don't know why folks think this even remotely fair to the Leafs. Faulk isn't that special and only has two left till he's a UFA,....Nylander five years.
